Job Description 

The Crosset Company Marketing Manager, in conjunction with the marketing consultant, plans and implements marketing programs targeted toward markets, customers, and suppliers by performing the following:

  • Brand Champion
    • Ensure consistent understanding and communication of the Crosset value proposition and “your organic advantage” positioning,
    • Protect Crosset brand identity/equity elements; review and refresh as appropriate; establish and maintain brand and graphic standards; ensure consistent use internally and externally
    • Identify and ensure protection of all trademarks and intellectual property owned by Crosset Company
    • Support employee retention and recruitment efforts by transforming the image of Crosset with existing and potential employees, and improving overall communication to all employees
  • Marketing and Sales Plans
    • Develop and implement strategic marketing and sales plans designed to
      • Clearly define the products and services Crosset offers
      • Quantify the value of those products and services to its customers and suppliers
      • Solidify Crosset’s position as the leading organic produce distributor East of Mississippi River
    • Re-invent and grow the Crosset annual Produce & Floral Conference,
    • Manage participation in all external tradeshows, with a focus on organic shows
    • Develop and implement strategic produce and floral supplier programs; Local, Family, and Organic
    • Develop processes and materials to support daily, weekly, monthly, holiday, and seasonal promotional items for sales teams to drive more volume
    • Plan and manage advertising, promotion, and digital marketing programs, including website, thought leadership (blog, Produce Talk, etc.), PR, professional networking sites, social networking sites, direct mail, print, sales collateral, and all materials used at trade shows
  • Lead category management/fact based selling initiatives
    • Collect and analyze Crosset, industry, customer, and consumer data
    • Keep abreast of market research and adjust marketing/sales strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
    • Monitor competitor products, sales, and marketing activities
    • Work in conjunction with sales leaders on key account business development efforts, including making sales calls
    • Develop sales presentation templates and tools that ensure consistency of message while allowing easy customization to the purpose/goal of each call
  • New Products/Services
    • Identify, recommend and lead execution of new product, packaging, processes, and/or services to generate incremental volume and revenue
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and strategic partners
  • Prepare marketing activity reports and present results to leadership team weekly and quarterly.

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of marketing management experience, including brand and product management, marketing plan development and execution, and communication strategy development and execution (print advertising, web and email marketing, public relations, social media, print collateral and tradeshow projects)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or communications
  • Produce/food industry experience is a plus
  • Category Management experience is a plus
  • Basic graphic design skills with experience with Photoshop or similar software
  • Superior written, verbal, and analytic skills
  • High Level Microsoft Office Suite skills, with emphasis on PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Sales/Business Development orientation
  • Superior organizational and project management skills required
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
